FBLA does well at Nationals

Seniors Amy Pettit, Sarah Forister, and Brynne Gardner pose for a picture after their competition at nationals.
On June 28, six SHS students traveled to San Antonio, Texas to participate in the the 2012 Future Business Leaders of America National Conference. Seniors Sarah Forister, Brynne Gardner, and Amy Pettit placed within the top fifteen in the nation in the Business Ethics division of the conference.
In this competition, the girls were given a scenario that included an ethical dilemma within the professional business world. The girls had to find the ethical flaws in each scenario, as well as take two tests concerning the laws of business ethics.
Forister, Gardner, and Pettit presented their case to a panel of judges, and, when all was said and done, they felt confident in their presentation. “We knew that we all worked really well together, and that we could help each other out if one of us was lost or stumbling,” Pettit said. Gardner agrees with Pettit in that the three work very well together. “We had a lot of fun working together.”
Each of the girls joined FBLA last fall, and this was their first time attending nationals. “It’s awesome that we accomplished so much in our first year,” Forister said. Business teacher Shirley Coulter, the FBLA advisor, said, “They each worked really hard to accomplish this much in their first year as FBLA members.”
This year, FBLA hopes to make the top ten in the finals at the 2013 FBLA national conference.
