Financial aid workshop scheduled for Feb 24 and 25

Near Peer Counselor Heather Gifford will be hosting a FAFSA workshop Feb. 24 from 2:00-4:00 P.M and Feb. 25 from 6:00-8:00 P.M in room B109 at Sheridan High School. The workshop is designed to help both students and parents answer any questions about FAFSA and help complete the application.

FAFSA is an application for free federal student financial aid. It is what students need to fill out to be qualified for student aid that comes from the government. The financial aid can come in forms like district loans and grants. FAFSA also makes a student qualified for subsidized loans, which pays for loans while attending school.

If you can’t make it to the workshop you can also complete the FAFSA by going to www.FAFSA.ed.gov with a parent and fill it out. You will need your parents and your tax returns.

Remember that FAFSA is always free. If a website ever asks for money, it most likely is a scam. Always sign FAFSA electronically with a pin number and the optimum deadline for FAFSA is March 1.
