Nick Estes takes the ball around a defender last weekend. The Boys are quickly gaining needed experience for top competition.

With SHS soccer season already three weeks in, the boys head to Cheyenne this weekend hoping for two wins.

The Broncs played Riverton last week and ended with a tie, 2-2. They also participated in the Caper Jamboree with a 2-1 record, beating Natrona, 4-0 and Rock Springs 3-0, but lost to Kelly Walsh 1-2

This year’s season will be extremely different from last year with a completely different style and group of kids. “With the loss of nine seniors, this year’s team is young but have decent experience” says head coach Kevin Rizer, “in the long run we will be pretty dang good.”

Defensively, the boys are strong, but with time and maturity they are expected to be a good all-around team. “They have not seen a ton of starting time, but that will come around and with time,” says Rizer.

The Broncs aim to finish first or second in conference and a chance to play for the state title. This year’s state match will be held in Rock Springs, May 16-18.
