SHS Golf team prepares for first and only home meet

This year the Sheridan High School golf team got off to a fast start. The team was full of experienced competitors as well as new freshmen who have been making an impact on the team. The boys top six consists of two seniors, one junior, two sophomores, and one freshman. While the girls team has two freshman, Victoria Owings and Kayla Allen, who finished fourth and eleventh respectively at the Worland tournament.

Next week on Sept. 12 and 13 the Broncs will face competitors on their home turf. “It’s not like football where everyone comes out and watches, but its still our home meet and we still get home field advantage,” said senior Jacob Belus. This week and next also marks the beginning of the end of the short lived golf season with state less than twenty days away. These next few tournaments means everything for the golfers as they compete to see who will make the top five and head off to the state meet down in Casper.

All in all the Broncs golf team has had a strong start to their season. They placed third in the Worland tournament on Aug. 29 and 30 and look to continue that success. But most importantly these last few weeks have given the young players plenty of experience to prepare for the end of the season.
