The girls’ basketball team continued a hot start to the season with three wins at the Flaming Gorge basketball tournament before Christmas break. The team will look to extend this winning streak at a tournament in Riverton where they will play three games this upcoming weekend.

The Broncs have only dropped one game so far this season, to top-ranked Natrona, and displayed dominance in defeating Star Valley in their first game of the Invitational 56-30. They won by an even larger margin in the next contest, 71-42, against Rock Springs. On the third day of the tournament, playing against Union School from Roosevelt, Utah, the Lady Broncs were victorious by the score of 61-27. “We did awesome. We won every by a lot. We had really good transition offense, so that was a strong point for the season and the tournament” said senior Alison Geary

Ranked second in the state, the squad has only lost once in seven games, and will be playing against Riverton Thursday, Kelly Walsh on Friday, and finishing the weekend against Evanston.

Robbi Ryan paced the team in scoring over the weekend, as she has all season, averaging about 14 points per game. She hit a season high against Rock Springs with 21 points.

Using a fast-break style, pressing the opponent and building large early leads, the Lady Broncs are leading the state in scoring. This week the team is looking to improve their defense to compliment their high scoring attack. “We are working on defense now so we can create more turnovers which lead to offense” said Geary.
