Scoring the last 11 points of the game to take control of the game and first place in the conference, the Lady Broncs won a crucial game against rival Gillette Camels 55-45 last Friday night at home. With the victory, the Broncs moved to 16-1 this season, and have now won 14 straight games.
Facing the third ranked Camels who were also undefeated in the East conference, the Broncs were able to keep the Camel’s hot shooting in check enough to pull away at the end. The game was close throughout, but Sheridan seemed in control for most of the game. However, down by one in the fourth, the Lady Broncs’ stepped up their defence, not allowing to score while knocking down free throws and jumpers to end the game up by 10.
Now in the second half of their conference schedule, the team plays Cheyenne South and Laramie this weekend at home. The game on Friday night against South will be senior night for the team’s senior player of Maddy McClure, Alison Geary, and Molly Ligocki. Last time, the Lady Broncs blew out both teams on the road, and will look to repeat those scorelines.
After dropping the game to Natrona, their fourth game of the season, the Broncs have had a dominant run with a solid defense coupled with an explosive offense. The Lady Broncs are ranked fourth in the state for defense and third in offense, and have a balanced attack and lots of depth from the bench who continue to challenge the starters. “Our JV players have been working hard to help everyone get better,” said junior Jennae Fieldgrove. “After losing to Natrona, it really lit a fire within the team to perform better.”
