University of Wyoming offers summer engineering experience

Applications for the University of Wyoming Engineering Summer Program are now available at the Student Planning Office for juniors. The program is June 16-22 at the University of Wyoming campus. Approximately thirty students will be accepted.

This program offers students interested in engineering, mathematics and science hands-on activities. However, students interested in any career field are also encouraged to apply. Students will work one-on-one with faculty members and advanced students. Activities include, building a circuit, programming a robot, studying solutions to environmental issues and designing timber trusses. The activities are designed to challenge students and engage them in the field of engineering. There are no tests or grades.

In order to apply, an essay discussing your interest in engineering, mathematics, or science must be included. A high school math or science teacher must fill out a nomination form and another teacher must provide a letter of support. Test scores, class rank, GPA and a high school transcript should be submitted along with the application. All applications are due March 31 to the address listed on the application.

The total cost for the program is $100. All other costs are covered by the University of Wyoming College of Engineering and Applied Science and the Wyoming Engineering Society. For any additional questions contact Jeff Anderson at (307) 766-3180.
