After finishing homecoming week with a loss against Laramie and a win against Cheyenne South, the SHS volleyball team is practicing and aiming for improvement for their last weekend of play before Regionals and State.
With their fair share of wins and losses, this has been a season of learning and growth for the team. The varsity squad stands at 4-6 in their conference. “Our team has been
improving a lot as this season goes on. We’ve had our ups and downs, but I feel we’ll peak at the right time,” said senior Mali Wright. This rings true for the team, with them fighting back and only narrowly losing to Laramie last Friday, and then dominating South the next day.
This weekend, varsity will be traveling to wrap up their conference play against Cheyenne Central and East. “They’re pretty good, but definitely beatable. If we play well it will be a good game,” said sophomore Dylan Wright. “We can beat them, I know we can,” added Mali.
The varsity girls lost in close games to both schools earlier in the season; however, with the improvements the team has been showing, these matches will be close ones where Sheridan will most likely have a large chance of winning both. The varsity girls are set to play East today and Central Saturday.
After this weekend, the varsity team will go on to play at Regionals in Gillette Oct. 19 and 20.
