Wrestlers perform well last weekend
The Sheridan Bronc wrestling team placed 16th out of 36 teams at their previous tournament which took place in Miles City, South Dakota on Jan. 11 and 12.
The Broncs got great performances out of Junior Jackson Hanify and Junior Cody Delk. Jackson took third place while Cody placed fifth in his weight class.
The team looks to improve their practices this week because that seems to be what’s impacting their performance. Senior Gabe Legler said,”We need to improve our practices because our past ones haven’t been that good, but this week has been a lot better which will hopefully carry over to our next competition.”
The team has had its ups and downs this year by placing in a variety of places at their tournaments. They have a lot of returning varsity wrestlers though. Senior Alex Smiley said,”we have a lot of experience wrestling as a team, and we just need to start performing better as a team and individually.” “One of our struggles this year has been our practices, but we are a very tough team, and we look forward to this weekend’s tournament and the rest of the season,”said Coach Shatto. “We need to be more competitive and not get pushed around so easily, but we bring a positive attitude to the table.”
The coaches and wrestlers look forward to their next tournament this Friday and Saturday, Jan. 18 and 19 which will take place in Buffalo.
