Track heading for the finish line
Half way through the season, track is hoping to end well, weather permitting. The team has had a harsh time in the Wyoming spring weather, but they’re not giving up any time soon.
The Billings and Powell invites were both shortened due to harsh weather the same weekend and the Cody invite was cancelled altogether. “We’ve had some pretty bad weather this year. Many of the meets have been rainy and/or windy.” said senior Kyle Dietsche. Even with the recent inclement weather the student athletes still hold high spirits. “The kids this year are excited to compete,” said head track coach, Art Baures. Baures went on to say, “The meets have not been ideal, but practices have.”
Seniors Nathan Kane, Michael Rotellini, and Casey Carlton pre qualified for state, along with sophomore Gabby Edeen on the girl’s side.
The girl’s 4×100 relay team, Kristin Grammens, Gabby Edeen, Mariah Grant, and Crystal Richards, qualified for state at the Casper invitational. “I think our little group is awesome. I think we all pull together well,” said Sophomore Mariah Grant.
The boy’s 4×800 team has also been showing great promise. The team includes Michael Rotellini, Kyle Dietsche, Rion Szatkowski , and Bradley Holloway.
The meets remaining in the season include Casper, the Gillette Camel Qualifier, and then state which is to be held again this year in Casper.
