SHS basketball team has high expectations for season

The SHS basketball team is more than ready; they know their strengths and what they need to work on for their year to be successful. Last year’s head coach Gale Smith is ready for this year to be better than last season, where they missed qualifying for the state tournament. Their goal for the season is a state championship, which is very attainable judging by the team.

Junior Dylan Daniels said, “I can’t wait to get back on the court again with the guys, so we can start slamming it again!”   Smith is excited to have four returning starters this year, including senior Reed Ritterbusch, senior Judson White, senior Trae Kaufman, and Daniels.

Smith said, “I’m excited to bring back players from last year, and hungry from the previous season.” Since most of the players are coming back from last year building team chemistry, which was one of the biggest challenges last year, won’t be a problem. But none of these problems really concern Smith as he answers with a confident attitude. One major thing the Broncs get to look forward to this season is having experience, since most of their team is coming back.

Ritterbusch said, “The team is going to be successful due to the fact that we have athleticism, speed and experience on our side.” Look for the Broncs to stampede over their opponents starting Dec. 6, when they play Green River at home.
