Sheridan Bronc wrestling

Saturday, Dec. 6, the team participated in their annual Cop Car Push, breaking the previous record of twenty-seven minutes with a time of twenty-three minutes.

There are 48 wrestlers out this year, and several new faces. The first varsity meet of the season took place in Rapid City Dec. 12-13.

Last season, Tory Music placed second at the meed and Dominic Miller placed eighth. Tucker Goss and Hayden Hastings both hope to take home first place medals this year.

One of the Broncs main competitors this year is Green River.

“Green River’s going to be tough to beat, but if we wrestle to our greatest ability and keep putting hard work into practice, we have a chance,” says Dominic Miller, who plans on placing in the top three at state this year.

Saturday, Dec. 13, four Sheridan Bronc wrestlers placed at the 2014 Rapid City Invitational. Sophomore Hayden Haystings and Sheridan Senior Kerry Powers placed fifth at the 152 and 2200 pound weight class. Junior Tucker Goss placed seventh at the 132 pound weight class, and Freshman Trevan Covolo placed eighth at the 113 weight class. Taking only 11 wrestlers, the Broncs placed 13 overall at the tournament, with a team score of 80 points.
